The Consecration of a bishop
The consecration of Marc Richard Steele as a bishop in Christ’s one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church marks a sacred and joyful occasion in the life of the Anglican Diocese of the Living Word and the Anglican Church in North America. Having been prayerfully elected by the diocesan synod and having received the requisite consent of the College of Bishops of the Anglican Church in North America, Bishop-elect Steele now enters the historic episcopate, charged with the apostolic ministry of preaching the Word, guarding the faith, shepherding the flock, and upholding the unity of the Church.
His consecration is both a recognition of his calling and character, and a solemn entrusting of the responsibilities of a successor in the apostolic tradition, faithfully continuing the ministry entrusted by Christ to his ministers for the building up of the Church and the advancement of the gospel.
